Recently Legal & General asked me to think about what I think is the most innovative piece of technology in my home. This got me thinking and so I’ve decided to share my thoughts on my Lumie Lamp. It’s safe to say that I am definitely one of those people that finds it difficult to get up in the morning – I’m certainly more of an evening owl than a morning lark! I’d heard such good things about Lumie lamps and anything that could potentially make getting up in the morning that little bit easier was definitely intriguing.
The Lumie Bodyclock Lamp is designed to gradually fill your room with light, waking you up in a much more natural way as opposed to a loud, annoying alarm clock noise. The ‘simulated sunrise’ takes approximately 30 minutes to bright and fill the room (and it really does, even in the depths of winter), which gives your body a signal to ease off the production of sleep hormones (melatonin) and increase the levels of those that help you to wake up (cortisol).
It’s absolutely lived up to my expectations and makes getting up in the morning so much easier. I even have the option of waking up to bird song which is so much nicer than a blaring alarm clock. I also like that I can use it as a night lamp – a few presses of the button can create anything from a bright, vivid light right down to a soft, bedtime hue.
The Lumie lamps retail for about £60 – I got mine whilst on offer at Boots so keep an eye out for deals. It has absolutely revolutionised my morning routine and makes getting up that little bit easier so is absolutely my favourite innovative piece of tech! I’d say if you’re a bit of a grump in the morning or just generally find it difficult to get up then investing in a Lumie lamp could be a real help.
What’ your favourite piece of innovative technology for day to day living?
