It’s always nice when a product doubles up and can be used for a purpose other than its original function. Over the years I’ve discovered all sorts of tricks and tips to get the most out of beauty products so thought I’d share some of my favourites in a post. For those of you that would rather watch than read I’ve also made a YouTube video that you can view HERE.
1. BATH OIL AS A FOOT MASSAGE OIL
I’ve found this works particularly well with the Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oils. Whilst you’re running the water for your bath, pour a few drops of the oil between your hands and massage into your feet. It’s a lovely way to start off the relaxation process and get you ready for your bath.
2. FACE MASK AS A CLEANSER
This is one of my favourites. Say for example if your skin was experiencing a particularly oily stage, you could use a clay based face mask to cleanse with to help with the excess oil. This is great when you don’t have the time to do a full face mask treatment and also works with hydrating face masks if your skin was a little dry for example. My favourite is to use at the moment the Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Linden Blossom for when my skin is feeling a bit congested.
3. CONCEALER TO TONE DOWN BRIGHT LIPS
You’ve bought a super bright lipstick that you’re not sure you have the confidence to pull off yet. Try using a touch of concealer to tone it down slightly. Simply apply your lipstick as a normal, blot, then using a lip brush gently dab a little concealer or foundation all over your lips to take away some of the brightness. I did this with MAC’s Rebel Lipstick when I first bought as I found the dark berry colour a little intimidating at first.
4. LIPSTICK AS A BLUSHER
I’m hopeless at matching blusher with the rest of my make up so one trick I use to ensure a good match is to take whatever lipstick I’m planning on wearing then dabbing it on top of unset foundation (almost like I’m using it as a cream blusher). I then blend this in, powder, and apply the lipstick to my lips and voila, perfectly matched cheeks and lips. Of course, this works better with reds and lips best. My favourite lipstick to do this with is MAC Crosswires.
